Linking to the category index page Can't Post

I'm using the same template for several feeds. Is there a $field$ I can add that goes to the index page of that particular feed?

If I was using one template per feed I could do it with a static link but this needs to be dynamic.

I tried to do this with the $url_index$ field, which works at the feed index and article level, but when you start browsing via the << prev next >> links at the bottom of the page, this doesn't work. Is there a way?

Re: [nigelparry] Linking to the category index page [In reply to] Can't Post

After thinking about the above a little more, there is a kind of fix to this, but it requires the use of multiple templates.

If the feed is one of three in a website section with a distinct patter, all three feeds need to be visually consistent within that section with the exception of the feed name (taken care of with existing templates) and a link back to the feed.

So, when that section is done, the solution is -- for each feed -- to save the template as, and hard code a link to the feed index page that you specified in the category manager.

The downside of this is that you need to save several copies of what is essentially the same template, but the plus side is that it's not a completely inelegant solution.

If anyone knows a more direct solution, please let me know.

Nigel,

I'll put in a bug/feature request to have $url_index$ defined by the search engine when a single category is selected. I'm not sure how far off it is but we can get in the next minor version (1.21).
