Linking broke in article manager Can't Post
The linking system in article manager seems to be broken for me. When I try to add a link, rather than inserting the title text, and "linking" it, the program discards everything but the url, and hotlinks it in it's full, ugly glory.

How can I fix this?

I'm not sure what you're looking for with regards to a sample...

Here's what happens... I click the "linking" button at the top of the submit box. I pull down "http://" and paste in the url. I select "blank". And then I add in a title. Then click "ok." At that point, everything is discarded except for the URL.

I then try to manually code it using href tags, and all I get is garbage code surrounding a linked URL.

I'm trying to understand.. correct me if I'm wrong.. (I'm not able to log onto AM myself at the moment, so I'm going by memory! =)

You're logging onto AM, and hit CREATE ARTICLE, setting the "article type" to "link". You copy and paste the URL you want to link to into its appropriate field, and ... (how do you select "blank"?) You type in a title to the "Title" field, and click SAVE.

At that point, nothing of your work displays on the generated page except the URL?

You might have built some custom settings with AM I'm not familiar with, but this is the only linking capability I know of that article manager does...

No. I'm trying to create a link within the article. A standard link. A href yadda. I have nothing custom. I'm just trying to create a standard, basic, every day link.

AH! I See!!
Well I guess the first thing that comes to mind are the settings you might have under SETUP OPTIONS. Go there, click on the GENERAL tab, and scroll down to the"Editor Settings" section.

I'm particularly interested in the first two options there:
- Default content format
- HTML Tag Parsing

Try fiddling with those and see if that helps..

EDIT: OH!! THE LINKING BUTTON! You must be using the WYSIWYG version of the content editor! :D I'm just using the plain old text box... no wonder the confusion ;D

Hi John.

Thanks for the thread!

The one thing I noticed in your sample picture there is that there is no other text in your content box. What I suggest is trying to type in what you want the link to look like first. Then, select that text and try adding the link to it.

This should get the link using your text instead of just displaying the whole link. Give it a shot and let me know if that gets you going Smile.
