Limiting which articles appear on home page Can't Post

Is there a way in Article Manager to limit which articles appear on the home page? A simple check box would be great, when composing an article, to say whether the article will be posted on the home page. It would by default be posted within category.

I would find this very useful...some articles good enough to post within category aren't suited for the home page :)

Anybody else want to do this / have any ideas?

A kludge would be to enter a new article with a date that is older than existing front-page dates. This way the article will already drop-off the front-page, but still appear in the category pages. The drawback, aside from an incorrect date, is that the articles also appear further and further down the list in the categories and in the headlines. A kludge by any other name...
