Integrating AM to an existing PHP site Can't Post

Hi guys,

We don't want to lose the page ranking on our php site, and we want AM integrated and working on that site.

How do we set it up and still get the output (published files) from the AM to our php site, make AM the front page and keep the original

pages of the php site?

Is it possible to put AM at the same level as the root folder of our existing php site? Because the idea here is to limit

"drilling down" folders to access the publish files.

Thanks,

Ford

Hi Ford.

Thanks for posting!

Article Manager can be set to publish all your pages with a .php extension and it uses its own naming convention so I don’t see it interfering with your page ranking.

Now, the one thing I am not quite sure about is the index page. If Article Manager were to take over the index, all the search engines would still be able to see it but you may get re-indexed based on how different the content is.

Of course, I am not an expert when it comes to search engine optimization so if anyone else in the community had some tips, Ford and I would both appreciate some feedback Smile.

Also, ford, have a look at this new tutorial that Mike setup:

http://www.interactivetools.com/products/articlemanager/tutorials/search_engine_optimization.html

Article Manager by default is very search engine friendly and this tutorial has quite a bit of detail on the different options you have.

Keep me up to date with how you are making out Smile.

Re: [ross] Integrating AM to an existing PHP site [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Ross,

I used php in the Publish File Extension, did a test article to see but it was not published. So I used the shtml file extension, and the test article was published.

Is there another setting to be done to accomplish this?

If it can be done, can we use a <? include("test_file.php") ?> instead of
<!--#include virtual="test_file.shtml" --> ?

Thanks,

Ford

Hi Ford,

Thanks for the post! Smile

Changing the publish file extension in the Setup Options should recreate all of your SHTML pages in PHP once you click the "Publish All" button in the Setup Options.

If you've done this and you're still not getting any PHP pages published anywhere on the server then you may want to fill out a Support Request on our site here:

https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi

This should allow me to get onto your server and see if I can get the PHP files publishing for you.

I look forward to hearing from you and you can feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or comments! Smile

Hi Mike,

I apologize for the late reply. There are some pressing concerns that I need to attend to.

Regarding accessing our server, we will transfer to a new host soon and I will fill out the support request once we have completed it.

Thank you very much.

Cheers,
