How Do I Link An Article to an External Source? Can't Post

I know this is simple for experienced AM users, but I have never tried it:

How do I write up a story summary linked to an external source, ie; There's a headline, a summary written by be, but when the user clicks on the link it takes them to another site where the story actually resides..

Thanks!

Taylor

hi taylor

you could add article and set its type to Summary Only, then when type in the summary field put a link there.

you add the link using InsertWebLink in the WYSIWYG, or you could write it in html: <a href="http://domain.com">story source</a>

to open link in a new window: <a href="http://domain.com" target="_blank">click here</a>

I hope i understood your question correctly.

Actually there's an article type called "Internet URL:" which allows you to link article summaries to another website.

When creating your new article, for the "Article Type" select "Internet URL:" and in the "Internet URL:" field enter in the URL for where you want your headline link to go. (e.g. http://www.externalwebsite.com/other_article.html). Next enter in your summary, upload images if necessary, and click save.

I hope this helps. :)

Thanks Malak and Luke!

I have one other quick question: How do I populate a pulldown field with Author Names to insert into my various articles (so I don't have to manually write in their names each time).

I've tried setting up a spare pulldown field, but am unsure how to populate it???

Help?

hiya taylor ..

use format like this:

Author (,jack,Mike,taylor,Someone else,another person)

first blank just in case you do not want to select an author .. followd by author names seperated with commas.

G-Luck
