How can I use HTML in my articles -- even something as simple as a clickable URL?

Thank you kindly...

Hi Joe,

If you are using the regular text box you can enter HTML directly or you can upgrade to version 1.20 which includes a WYSIWYG text editor for IE 5.5+ for Windows users. With the WYSIWYG text editor you can highlight text, choose the link button and enter the URL to go to when clicked.

Here is the link to request an upgrade: http://www.interactivetools.com/upgrade/

Hope that helps :)

Also, you'll need to make sure you have "allow HTML" turned on under setup options.

I did this for example:

This is a test
<A href="http://www.Google.com">Goooooooogly</a>

It created a link alright but with a pound sign at the end so it doesn't go anywhere...

http://www.mydomain.com/artman/exec/admin.cgi?art_preview2=20#

Anyone know why?

Thanks..

Oh, I understand now. All the links on the preview page don't work, the preview page is just to show you what the article will look like. It's done this way because the previewed article may not exist yet, so the links on the page may not exist either and clicking on them might cause 404 errors. Try the links on the published page, they should work ok.

Really? That's very odd. We're running the same version here (it must be the latest) and I've tested it on a few computers and haven't had any javascript errors.

A few questions for you. Do you know if you're running any proxies or applications that might be "filtering" or modifying the javascript code or anything else that might be affecting it? Does the Article Manager on the online-demos site cause a javascript error for you as well? The url is:

http://www.online-demos.com/setup.cgi?demo=artman_demo

Has anyone else had any javascript errors with the wywsiwyg editor?

Yes the demo works for me on IE6 guess it is on my end, i must have messed up the template i guess

thankswill look into it

yep, i totall forgot to upload the htmlarea files, my bad... now on to the editor

WOW!!!! very cool, slow but cool still :)

Question: is there a way that we can add stuff to the toolbar? like the image vars " ***image1:center*** " so when you click them they place themselves in the document ( would be nice for the regular editor also.

Would like this maybe to be user editable so we can add new stuff like the page breaks tag <!--page--> this is very useful when we use outside writers...

Just a thought, otherwise this ROCKS!!!

Is it slow on your end? What sort of computer do you have? I noticed the htmlArea was a little slow on Dlo's computer. Can you explain how it's slow? Is it slow to update your text, or how is it slow?

Yea, just have a look at the editor.js file. There's actually a few buttons in there that are functional but commented out by default (strikethrough, subscript, superscript). Buttons can be added. Having them insert custom text is a little more work but can be done too. I'll see if I can put some skeleton code in there that does that (insert arbitrary text) for the next release.

Custom text is an awsome idea .. i am thinking along the line of a drop down menu to insert them.
This will be so useful in AM .. and in a wide variety of different applications out there. So many script developed in CGI, PHP, ASP, Java .. etc are lacking htmlEditor .. and they all use there own Tags/Variables .. so accomedating that shold ensure a wider range of use for this excellent editor.
