FILE LOCK Can't Post

Hi,

Product ID XXXXXXXXXXXXXX [edit. removed for security]

I have reinstalled AM using CuteFTP 7 Pro. repeatedly. I just cannot get past the welcome screen without an instant File Lock error on the data file :

For your reference, the filelock error was: 'error opening exclusive file lock e:/domains/ptmgxtra.co.za/wwwroot/cgi-bin/artman/data/filelock.lock: Permission denied '.

I even reloaded the FTP to make sure that Ascii or Binary was specified correctly instead of using Auto. I have tried deleting the file filelock.lock - if I dont it doesnt even come up with the welcome screen. My ISP assures me that the permissions have been set as per your documentation (- I cannot check them and have to assume they are correct.) I tried not using the cgi-bin folder and copied those folders to the main artman folder but all I achieved was to move the problem!!

One other point is that this domain is home to another application in a separate folder and that app uses MYSQL and is already live - could this have a bearing on the problem? The reason for this domain at all is that my client has an ISP who cannot support this app or Article Manager's Sysreqs so I thought I would register a new domain to house both of these apps and link to and from the main website.

Any ideas welcome?????????

Regards

Tony Randell

Re: [trandel] FILE LOCK [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your post.

This error almost certainly points to the permissions. If you'd like, we have some scripts that test the permissions and can give something a bit more solid to give to your hosting provider.

If you'd like to try this, fill in a support request, and we can pop into your server and find out exactly what permissions still need to be set:

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Donna
