Exporting AM's data file Can't Post

Hello All,
1. Similar to a previous post, we're considering using AM as an interim step toward a higher-end solution. If version 2.0 will include a feature to export AM's .dat files to mySQL, is it fair to assume that it could be exported to Oracle with your help?

2. We'd like to make regular backups of the .dat files for a home-made "version control" scenario. Would overwriting the .dat files with the ones from, say, two weeks ago, restore the site to it's condition at that time?

Thanks in advance,

Fred

Re: [Fred] Exporting AM's data file [In reply to] Can't Post

Fred,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

With either the current version or 2.0 we could certainly help you if you wanted to export the data. You'd likely need a script or program to import data into Oracle, but we could get the data into a standard format that make it easy to parse and import (eg: CSV, tab delimitated, etc).

And to answer your second question, yet you can backup and restore the dat files. The only additional thing you'll need to "roll-back" is to click "publish all" under the setup option so that all the static pages will be re-generated with the old data. You may also want to erase the published files in your publish directory to make sure the old ones get erase before you re-publish.

Hope that helps, if you have any other questions just let me know! : )
