Article Visible but Headline Hidden? Mad I know! Can't Post
Hi All
I'm using AM for a site where our client wants to publish press releases on their site. (no problemo)
They want the titles of the latest 5 press releases to appear on the front page. (also no problemo)

include("http://www.petroceltic.ie/content/cat_headlines_36.php");
?>

However they want to be able to publish certain press releases but NOT have their titles appear in the list of 5 on the front page. Yikes!

Any ideas?

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the post!

One thing that may work for you is creating a featured press release checkbox, with this you could set-up you templates to only display the first five featured press releases. These featured press releases would also be the only press releases used in your php include. :)

Does this sound like an option that may work for you Ian? If so let me know and I will be happy to go into more detail for you!

Thanks for hanging on there.

I have been working on a tutorial for you today and I just realized that this thread was in the Article Manage 1 forum. Since I have been working on your Article Manager 2 upgrade recently I was actually under the impression that's what we were working on here.

So I just wanted to let you know I'll just need a little more time to get it going again for Article Manager 1. Of course, if you wanted to do this in Article Manager 2 instead, let me know and I'll post up that walk through.

Either way, I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your patience Smile.

I got things going for you in Article Manager 1 now so we should be able to get this going. One thing is that I actually went with a slight different approach because I think it will end up being easier.

Basically, you would just need to create a new category called "Front Page Headlines" and only post the articles you wanted to appear on the front page to this category. Then, on your default index template (/templates/index/default.html) change your include to pull in the headlines file for that new category.

The include would essentially be the same thing but would have a different category number.

Once you have this setup, only the articles in that special category you setup will appear in the headlines on your homepage.

Does that sound like it would work? Give it a shot and let me know how you make out Smile.

Hi Ross, thanks for that but it doesnt really solve the problem.
The Client has a category called Press Releases 2006.
They want all press releases to appear in that category.
But on the front page they only want the important ones to appear in the headlines. In order to achieve this I dont want to have to tell them to create a second category and enter the press release twice for the front page.

Chet had mentioned a "featured press release checkbox" as a possible solution, is this still a runner?
