We've just released Article Manager v1.20. Here's a list of the new features:

- New WYSIWYG editor! (requires IE5.5+ on Windows)
- User may now specify article filenames (eg: /publish/my_article_name.shtml)
- spare fields increased to 20
- new spare field types: text field, textarea, WYSIWYG, pulldown, checkbox
- image placeholders now parsed in spare fields
- Summary and Content fields may now be disabled, or changed into WYSIWYG fields
- uploaded image max now increased to 25
- archiving can now be done by date range AND category name
- admin program templates can now be modified
- global article sorting order can be modified by user
- renamed "Entire Site" to "All Categories" on search templates
- INI setting now available to hide "Upgrade Available" section in Setup Options

We've also added a "Featured Article" checkbox that you can enable and check to have articles sorted to the top of the list.

Great to hear! It's actually the same style (and code) that our upcoming htmlArea component is based on. It's a work in progress but we were very happy with how v1.0 turned out. It's actually pretty lite as far as javascript code goes (~20k of javascript) and is very easy to add on to existing forms. I'm hoping we'll have everything ready to release htmlArea next week. We'll have to see how busy it is.

I agree with Malak_3araby! Yes!

Dave, what is this htmlArea component you speak of? Hmmm. Sounds mysterious....

LOL @ taylor

Dave .. it is really amazing .. specify path + use correct text area name and the insert 2 lines .. and VIOLLA .. a WYSIWYG editor.

I hope i did not violate the liscence, but i looked at it and changed as needed and tried it in a PHP forum and it worked.
I just did that for testing and its removed now.

Indeed as you said .. it can be used with any form to magically ;) turn any textarea into a WYSIWYG. I was about to pay some +$40 for a similar product 3 days ago .. i think its called EditWorks or something like that.

I am eagerly waiting for the final release.

To all the folks at interactive, thank you, this version is great :) still cant see the wysiwyg editor, ie 6.0 shows a java error. other than that the admin is pretty perfect. The support we get from you guys is absolutly terrific. Keep up the great work, you have a client for life now...

Thanks again

:)

Awesome stuff! One thing I'm waiting for now is the image gallery management. The topic has been discussed before here so I won't go into details. Any idea in what release that will come?

Thanks,

Colin

It's a free wysiwyg drop-in replacement for <textarea> field. The same one we're using in Article Manager, only we're making it available for other people to use in any other applications they may have.

There's a posting about it here in the new forum I created, check it out:

Hey great, glad you found it easy to use. The only thing we ask is that you keep the little [ ? ] "About this editor" button on the free one so other people can find out about it and use it too. I'll get the real deal posted on Monday so you can start using that.

We're on it. Actually we've been spending on a fair bit on time on it the last couple weeks. It probably won't be out until 2.0. We're working on improving the whole image-management/image-placeholder system and there's lots of issues with how everything will integrate together. We're hoping to make some vast improvements in that whole area.

Dave (and the rest of the INCREDIBLE Artman Team Cool)

Just received an installed the latest-greatest 1.20. Kudos!

Reading the "Upgrade_readme.txt" file (imagine, a male, uh, I mean, programmer who actually reads installation instructions!) I followed the indicated "Copy these-here files" instructions. Mainly, everything in exec/ and images/htmlarea/.

Fired that Bad Boy up. Hmmm... can't find "_setup_menus.html" it says.

Through the power of Magic, consultation with two psychics @ $5.50 each, and a question submitted to "Ask Jeeves," I copied the directory interface/ to its appropriate home.

Could this possibly be an omission from your instructions?

Like the new WYSIWYG. Makes an Author's life almost fun, again. THANKS!!!
