Article Manager 1.11 Released! Archiving, rebranding, and more. Can't Post

Article Manager 1.11 is now available for download. This is a major upgrade with several new features, so you may wish to upgrade.

Here's what's new:

Archiving functionality - create new archives and transfer files to them. Although this is seamless to visitors to your site, it can dramatically speed up the performance for sites with many articles. You can pull articles out of the archive if you need to change them later too.

Rebranding functionality - you can change the administration interface to personalize it for your clients. Change the login images, the admin title/footer bar, and turn the meta generator tags on/off.

Other fixes/features
  • Image captions can now safely include HTML tags
  • XHTML <br /> tags are now generated for summary and content fields
  • Javascript Encoding "_je" placeholder suffix now works on all pages
  • Browsing directories on a Mac OS/X server now works correctly
  • Log off Article Manager can go to a specific file, not just a directory

Upgrades are always free, so, if you want to upgrade to the latest edition, visit this page:

Hi,

I have forwarded your message to our developers to start looking into right away.

The archiving works by date range. This way all older articles from all categories can be archived in one step. If you have a category that has permanent data such as links which you don't want archived, you could either: make sure that its created date isn't in the date range that you are archiving or you could change it's created date far into the past or future so it's not included in an archive date range. I hope this helps.

So are you telling me archiving is manual? I do not want anything to do with auto-archiving as I have news that I need to be not archived, but I want to upgrade for some other features.

Hi Mick,

Your right, archiving is manual. Archiving is done by going into the Setup Options under the Archiving tab and choosing the date range to archive. It's not automatic so if you don't want to archive, you can don't have to use that feature.
