Article Editor Drop Down Category Can't Post

Hi,

I have done something ..............!!!

When I first set up categories the drop down list in the article editor had the following look:

Cat 1 (Cat1 = Industry Sector e.g. Plumbing Engineering)

Cat1:Cat2 (Cat2 = Publication Title e.g. Plumbing Africa Magazine)

...Cat2:Cat3 (Cat3 = Article Type e.g. ...Plumbing Africa Magazine:Editorial)

...Cat2:Cat3

Now - I must have changed something when changing templates etc to tailor my pages and the dropdown for categories in the article editor displays as follows for all new entries created by the category editor:

Cat1

Cat1:Cat2

BUT now it shows the full expanded Cat1:Cat2:Cat3 for every article

This description gets very long and repetitive - e.g.

Plumbing Engineeering:Plumbing Africa Magazine:Editorial

As I have added some new Cat3 categories to the original Cat2 they get the new look but the old categories remain as originally displayed - quite confusing and the only way to fix the look is to erase and recreate - modify doesnt change the display.

I prefer the original look - does anybody know what I have done to change it?

Regards

Re: [trandel] Article Editor Drop Down Category [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Tony,

Thanks for posting! Smile

I've had a look over your post and I'm actually not too sure what might be happening in your installation of Article Manager.

As far as you've mentioned it sounds like the problem has to do with the category dropdown menu in the Article Editor but this doesn't sound like something that would have happened based on modifying your template files.

That said, in this case I think it might be best if I were able to get onto the server and have a closer look at this. You'll just want to fill out a Support Request with your FTP details here:

https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi

This should allow me to get onto your server and have a look into this for you.

I look forward to hearing from you and if you have any other questions or comments, just let me know! Smile
