2 questions Can't Post

Hi

How can I add expire date on the published articles? So each time an article is added it has 15 days on the site!?

Second questions, how can I replace the word of “Article” in admin pages and in user pages?

Thanks
Alex

1. The staff at InteractiveTools have created a tutorial to guide you through Setting your Articles to Publish at a Future Date.

2. It's not clear to me just what it is you really want to change in the admin/user interface pages. Are you wanting to just change every instance of the word "article" on the interface?

First thing you'll want to do is backup your artman\templates\interface folder and all the files in it. Then open up each page in Internet Explorer to get a quick glimpse into what that file contains. If you see something you want to change, you can right-click that page, and select View Source. Hit CTRL+F and search for the term or phrase you want to change. Make one or two small changes at a time, save the file, then load that edited file to your web server. Log in, and see if the intended change was successful. Keep working this way until you get the effect you want, but again, back up your folder. :P

If there's anything else I've missed, I'm sure the IT staff here will be glad to help you.

Re: [Silvatti] 2 questions [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi

What I meant is I would like to rename the Word " Article " in the admin section, publishing section, user interface section etc..
Replacing on the user section, I undrestand that I need to open the templates files and make changes.

But once it is in the "Creating Articel" section, adminstration section, menues "Create Articel" etc.. Who can I make those changes?

Thanks
Alex

My first question was How I pre-define articel's expire date.

Meaning that the administrator pre-define Articel's publishing time on the site: ex. all Articels published by user will be posted for 30days only from the publishing date!

Thanks

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the post!

Mike has actually written a great tutorial and script for setting up your articles to publish at a later date! You can find this tutorial here:

http://www.interactivetools.com/products/articlemanager/tutorials/auto_future_publish.html

This tutorial will go over how to install the autopublish.cgi and also cover how the autopublish.cgi works. :)

To remove the word "Article" from the admin program will require editing the interface templates, I would recommend creating back-up copies of your interface templates before making any changes these files are what makes the software run. You can find your interface templates in the /templates/interface/ directory on your webserver.

Next you would open up each of the interface templates in a text editor then search for and replace each instance where the word "article" is used with the word you would like to use instead. :)

Alex there are lots of spots where the word "Article" is used in the admin, what you may want to do is guide me towards the spots where you would like to remove the word "Article". Once I know the exact spot you would like to edit I will be able to tell you which interface template and which bit of code you will want to look for to edit out the word "Article".

Does this help Alex? If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask!

Hi Chet,

Thanks for your answers.

But the Mike's articel is about articles to publish at a later date!... It is not what I am looking for, My question is to pre-define How long the articel will be up on the site. Today each articel needs to be earsed before they can be taken off from the site. But I want adminstrator or writers define the life length of their articels on the site.

All articel will still be published right after they are added or approved by admin.

Hi Alex

Thanks for clearing that up!

From the sounds of it now, I think you are looking to have an auto expire (the opposite of Mike’s tutorial). Right now, that is actually an item on our feature request so I am going to add your name to the list with everyone else.

While I am not exactly sure when a version with this feature will be ready to go, the developers do keep a close eye on this when deciding what new features to add.

Keep me up to date with how you are making out Smile.s

Hi Ross

Thanking for understanding me! and your answer!.

I would also like to add to the feature request; that it would be possible for site visitors to open their own account in the Articel Manager!..

Regards
Alex

Hi Alex.

That sounds great!

We already have that on the feature request list as well, so I’ll add you name to that one too Smile.
