goforum.cgi with ikonboard--- issue Can't Post

Using Ikonboard 3.1.1

Discovered a minor anomaly... If ‘login required’ is set to ‘0’, I will get the cookie error, “Unable to get session ID out of cookies!”. EXCEPTION: If a thread has already been started on that article, no error occurs.

If I 'login required’ is set to ‘1’, it seems to function correctly every time.

Thanks for the bug report. We don't have a lot of experience with ikonBoard so, as you can imagine, we kind of have to muddle through it. Let me know any other problems you run into and we'll do our best to resolve them.

I wanted to check one other thing, when you create a thread, it redirects you to an url like this:

ikonboard.cgi?act=Post;CODE=00;f=5

Do you know if the number on the end is the forum number, and what difference it makes if you change it?

Let me know and then we can issue a patch.

Correct. The number on the end designates forum number. Changing that number simply causes a post in another forum.

BTW the issue I describe occurs in your newest code release as well as the previous version.

Re: [Dave] goforum.cgi with ikonboard--- issue [In reply to] Can't Post

Dave, thanks. Here's the latest. I tested the patched script:

With no login required -- error occurs:
Error posting new thread, unable to parse out new thread URL! at /u/home/g/sitename/public_html/cgi-bin/artman/exec/goforum.cgi line 427.

NOTE the above error occurs ONLY if a thread does not exist. If a thread exists for that article id, error will not occur.

With login required -- no errors.

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Can you PM me a link to your forum where users can post without logging in? It must have a different format than the page logged in users get.

Hi WebGuys,

Thank you for the forum post Smile.

The last post, as you can see, is over a year ago, and there are new versions of Article Manager and goforum script. If you want the latest goforum script (require Article Manager 1.28 or later), please Email support@interactivetools.com and request the script there. A Support Team member will send you the latest goforum script.

If you have other questions please let me know.

Hi WebGuys,

Thanks for the forum post Smile.

Since goforum.cgi is a free add-on script, I won't be able to offer support on it. I did take a look at your case and consulted with Donna, a fellow product specialist, and we don't think it's possbile to fulfill your request without rewriting the goforum.cgi script. Since I am not a Perl/CGI programmer I don't think I can help you there. If you need the services of a Perl programmer, you can try our resources page: www.interactivetools.com/resources.

If you have other questions please let me know.
