creating a link within text of an article Can't Post

Hi!

I have a client who asked if they can create a link within the text of some of the articles they write, where it can send them off site - preferably in a new window (I assume target_blank would work?) .

I looked around but unable to find any reference regaring the ability to do this.

Yea, I really think Interactive Tools should make all links go to an external browser window rather than in the same page. I hope they can make this a default in their upcoming revisions.

Anyways, you can just append the following code at the end of the URL to make the link pop open a new browser window that that URL's webpage: target="_blank"

Hey thanks..

appreciate the quick response..

What I really need to know is exactly what is typed in the page itself? In other words, they're at creating an artical and typing in the content..within the text of that content, they would like to place a reference link to another web site...is possible? If so, what exactly must be done to make that hyperlink? If not..is there ANY link that can be created on that artical anywhere..?

I thought I read somewhere about it, but now i just cannot seem to find any reference to it.

thanks again...Jim

Hi guys.

If you are using Internet Explorer on a windows PC, you can take a look at Article Managers WYSIWYG editor. What this would do is allow you to easily create links to external sites as you create the actual article. The link would appear on your page as a normal link and the person who created it wouldn’t even need to know HTML Cool.

If you were interested in this, you would just need to enable the editor from Setup Options. Under the Article Field heading, you’ll be able to select WYSIWYG from the menus next to your content and summary fields. Just select it for both and hit the save button. Now whenever you create or edit an article you have a set of buttons to make customizing you content easier. Near the middle of the second row of buttons is the link tool.

Is this what you guys are looking for? Just let me know if you would like anymore details.

Thanks for posting guys Smile.
