Re: [Maurice] content by hour,day,week or month [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Maurice!

Thanks for your post. :)

Can you give me more details as to how exactly you want to display things? Article Manager's search engine can do queries based on the date, giving you results of a date range. So, for example, you could setup a search that showed "everything from Day X to Day Y".

To do this, the query would look like this:

Code
http://yoursite.com/path/to/search.cgi?day=1&year=2004&mon=1&day2=7&year2=2004&mon2=1

To break it down...

day=1
year=2004
mon=1

This is the "Posted After" date, and this coresponds to January 1, 2004.

day2=7
year2=2004
mon2=1

This is the "Posted Before" date, which corresponds to January 7th, 2004.

So, the results of that query would show everything between January 1st and 7th of this year. You can then add additional queries, like how many posts per page, or what template you want to use, or which templates you're searching as per usual with the search engine.

Does that help? Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. :)

Hi Maurice!

Thanks for your post. :)

Ah, I see. At the moment, there's no time-based publishing -- articles are only published when you manually publish them.

I hope this helps. :)

If you prepare all your articles and give them status "pending" it will only take you a couple of seconds to change the status to "visible" and put them out on the web. I do this regulary and it works just fine!Smile

Hi Kjell,

Never worked at a larg corp before he?

Employers at a marketing, pr or communications departments want those options because when they give there presentation they don't have the time to put things online. they want 2 prepair the things before going 2 talk 2 the press or have

I could thgink of a milion reasons y some 1 wants time based publishing.

4 u as 1 person it's no problem and i'm glad it works for u, but y do all larg news en cms systems have this simple function?

also all my customers keep asking our conslutance y u can select the date en time in the backend.

Something like this would probably be a fairly easy modification to the software. AM already allows you to set the date, time, etc. for the article. All the programmers would have to do is set it up to not publish until the date, time, etc. has reached that point (future articles).

A lot of CMS's already do this.

Hi Maurice & Elderban :)

Thanks for your suggestion. :)

Alas, there's no such thing as an "easy modification". Article Manager is pretty darn complex and that sort of thing would take a lot of planning before it could be implemented.

Currently, we're working on adding sub-categories to Article Manager -- proof that we *do* listen to you guys, since this has been a pretty heavily requested feature. :)

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. :)

Hi Donna

mabye it is a idea to put the complete wish list online in a poll system and let customers vote on the next wish that will be intergrated in AM.

just a thought.
