Page breaks altogether! Can't Post
Hi -

I appreciate this is a free add-on and not supported, but I thought someone might be able to point me in the right direction with this problem:

If you go to http://www.foundation-stage.info/newfsf/articles/visitors/FSFArticle_5.php I've just put the pagebreak javascript into that template. The article is quite a long one (I hadn't actually put any page breaks in when it ended up like this (ie with title and other stuff but no content).

If you go to http://www.foundation-stage.info/newfsf/articles/members/FSFArticle_2.php, that's a different type of article with a more or less identical template, but without the javascript added.

If you look at the source, it seems to have found the content ok for the printer friendly page.



I've mucked about with the templates a fair bit, but as I say, the two pages above differ only in that one has the pagebreak script added to the template and one doesn't.

The only other thing that might be of interest is that there are two other javascript um scripts on the page. One works the navigation menu, and the other sizes the columns so the footer is displayed at the correct height. Don't know if they might conflict?

Hi Steve!

One thing to make sure of is that the pagebreak javascript file is in all of your publish directories. Since you're publishing to multiple categories, you may need to copy the script into each of those categories, or hardcode it to look in one specific location. Currently, it just looks in the directory that the published file is in.

Many thanks Donna -

pagebreak.js needed to be in the directories I was publishing to, which are not in fact the 'publish' directory, for reasons which seemed good at the time.

It may be worth putting this point in the instructions file, for idiots like me? Currently it just says, 'upload the files into the /artman/publish/ directory, rather than to the directory which you're publishing to. Obvious point I'm sure, but never underestimate the ability of people like me to follow instructions blindly... Pirate

Hi Steve! :)

You're right, that's something that needs to be added to the instructions. The current instructions date back to pre-Custom Directory Publishing, so they were valid until that feature came out. :)
