Add survey Can't Post
Hi,

I understand that if you want to make changes to your web page that uses Article Manager, you have to do them to the template.

Does this means if I want to add a survey just to the first page I should do it ONLY on index/default.html?

Can anyone suggest a good web page where I can buy survey module?

Hi Diana.

Thanks for posting!

You are definitely on the right track. Adding a survey to /index/default.html will have the survey appear on your first page. Keep in mind though that all your index pages use this template so the survey will be displayed on all the index pages that are still using default.html

What you can do though is create a copy of default.html, call it other_categories.html and set all the other categories to use this instead of default.html. That way, any changes made to default.html only effect the first page.

For the actual survey code, I think it would be better let the community help out as I am not all that familiar with the different survey software available. Perhaps though, you could give us some detail on what type of survey you wanted to setup. That would help narrow down the best options.

It's just a one question thing with 'yes,no,not sure' answer.
I want this little thing to be only on the first page. I can
create a little form, but if it involves any code, I'm not sure I can handle it.

Hi,

is there any way I can make my front page look like http://www.newsweek.com

I tried making a few changes to the default template and it worked well. But I don't wana screw things up here, is it possible to make such huge change to the template? I want the news and article category to be in separate column like newsweek. Can anyone please suggest a site or tech notes
for this?

Hi ross,

referring to your respond to my query, I have one more question. This will sound realy stupid, but I'm clueless.
How do I set the other categories to use "other categories" instead of default.html?

Hope you can guide me so that at least I know where to start.

Hi Diana.

Thanks for posting!

Getting your main page to look similar to NewsWeeks should actually be something that can be setup, however, it’s going to take a bit of work. There will also be several advanced HTML techniques used, so you’ll want to be comfortable with that part too.

The best way to get this going will definitely be to take small steps one at a time so it sounds like you are off to a good start. If you keep regular backups to your default template you’ll be fine.

If you think you are ready to tackle some of the more complicated parts, I would be more than happy to lend a hand. So keep on going with the way you already are, then post up a link to how far you have gotten and we can take it from there.

In regards to changing the categories so that they use the other template, you just need to first make sure the alternate template is in your /templates/index folder, then second, go to the Category Editor in Article Manager, click modify for each category and select that template in the index pages drop down menu. Does that make sense? Let me know if you need a hand with that Smile.
