Publishing Rules

Instead of one generic "Publish All" button that publishes all your content, you now set up a list of rules to control how the different parts of your site are published. These are called Publish Rules.

Publish rules are a set of guidelines that are used to tell Article Manager 2 what, where and how it is creating your content. Each publish rule will contain the following information:

"What" am I publishing:
"What" refers to the file extension that will be given to all the files created by the publish rule. This means that you could easily publish your files in .php, .asp, .shtml, .xml or any other file format.

"Where" am I publishing this:
"Where" tells Article Manager the spot on your server that published content for this publish rule will be created.

"How" am I publishing this:
"How" is done with the template file you pick for the publish rule to use when creating its content.

Article Manager 2 comes with a set of default publish rules that will basically get things publishing just as they had in Article Manager 1. These default publish rules include:

--> Creating the website's page header.
--> Creating the global and category index pages.
--> Creating the global and category headlines files.
--> Creating the category lists.
--> Creating the website search features.
--> Creating the breadcrumb navigation.

There are also a couple publishing rules creating files that weren't published by Article Manager 1:

--> Creating the CSS files that your website uses.
--> Creating your RSS feeds.

These default Publish rules can be edited and deleted to suit your needs, you can also create new publish rules as needed. If you would like more information on default Publish Rules and setting-up new Publish Rules .
